Community Resource Network: Volunteer Opportunities for the Disabled: D.O.O.R.S.

D.O.O.R.S. - Disability Outreach Offering Resources through Service. Community Resource Network’s role in D.O.O.R.S. is to recruit and match volunteers with disabilities with volunteer opportunities tailored to their interests and skills with the goal of economic empowerment, both for the volunteer and the community. The D.O.O.R.S. program seeks persons with disabilities to volunteer in activities that promote economic empowerment. Volunteers can expect to gain valuable knowledge, further help their financial background, development, management of a budget, the importance of saving, income preservation, credit counseling, asset development, and the benefits of relationships with a financial institution by going through training programs. Currently, there are many opportunities dealing with economical activities listed in the immediate Chicago area. With so many possibilities and training opportunities, it is an easy way to become active in the community, networking as well as feel that you have made a difference in peoples’ lives. What CRN hopes to accomplish with all of our programs is to help strengthen the Chicagoland area by informing and educating the community about health and human services as well as help mobilize people and resources through community involvement. Community Resource Network can be reached at (312) 491-7820 or through email volunteercenter@communityresourcenetwork.org or you can search for opportunities here.
