reviewPalmer House Hilton
Although built in 1871, the Palmer House Hilton offers several amenities for those with disabilities. Currently, the Palmer House offers 26 ADA compliant rooms before its major renovation scheduled to be completed at the end of 2006.
Accessible rooms offer TTY, roll-in showers and grab bars. The hotel offers a wheelchair accessible swimming pool and health club and over 110,000 square feet of accessible meeting space. The Palmer House Hilton is also animal friendly for those with sight dogs and therapy dogs. Serving as a model for other hotels across the country, all staff members go through disability sensitivity training upon being hired.
Secondly, you cannot beat the location of this hotel to take advantage of other Accessible Chicago trips. For instance, Millennium Park, and The Art Institute are located just blocks away, and the Chicago Lakefront is located just a mile away. Palmer House is situated in the center of the Theater District and surrounded by the fine dining and high- energy entertainment venues of downtown Chicago. You can walk to Chicago Symphony Center from the front of the hotel.
Finally, users do not have to venture out of the a Beaux Arts-style hotel to have a great time. Fashionable boutiques and gift shops located beneath the hotel lobby are just an elevator ride away.

summaryCheck into the Embassy Suites Hotel, and check out all the fun nearby. We found this hotel easy to check into with several accommodations for those with special needs. Located within walking distance to Navy Pier and the Ohio Street Beach. Combine this hotel recommendation with the Navy Pier information, and let the fun begin.
reviewEmbassy Suites Hotel Lakefront
With so many hotels in Chicago, it is tough to know where to stay. One option is the Embassy Suites Hotel downtown located at 511 N. Columbus Dr. Embassy Suites touts this Lakefront location as the official hotel for Navy Pier. Those with special needs will find the free continental breakfast offered daily convenient and easy to access with a wheelchair. Use the valet parking located in the hotel and forget about parking the car. In addition, this "all-suite" hotel allows plenty of room for a family to relax.
With just a short ten minute walk to Navy Pier, Ohio Street Beach and restaurants, Embassy Suites makes finding things to do with a wheelchair easy. One word of caution: visitors are advised to avoid walking down Illinois Street west from the hotel as the sidewalk ends, and wheelchairs have to go on the street.
From this hotel check out these other two great destinations and events.
Ohio Street Beach: Take a walk down Grand Ave. toward Navy Pier, turn left down a bike path and arrive at Ohio Street Beach and enjoy the Lake Michigan views.
Air and Water Show: In August, take an end of summer trip to this great attraction. You can see the planes fly right by your window from this hotel. Make your reservations early because this is a very popular weekend to travel into Chicago.
