Kudos to the City of Chicago for State Street Sidewalk Work

State Street is going through a construction effort in order to make the sidewalks more accessible for those with disabilities.

Midwest Mobility and other Wheelchair Van Retailers and Resellers

----

Don, Accessible Chicago does not accept wheelchair vans, however, I have listed three wheelchair van places that may take your van. I know the first on the list, Midwest Mobility, does work with used vehicles, or they will know who to donate it to. Check out all three of the names on on our Wheelchair Vans Sales and Services Page. Sincerely, Catherine

Looking to Donate an Accessible Van

----

I would like to find out more about your program.   I have a 1989 Dodge van with a raised roof, Crow River fully automatic lift, automatic doors, 8 way BD power seat base, and hand controls.  I don't know if your organization could use this or if you know of another outlet for the van.    Is there a place to sell it cheaply to someone who could use it or a place to donate it and get a tax deduction to take in account the value of the equipment.   I live in the Chicagoland area in Illinios.   Thanks Don

Joni and Friends and Other Charities Take Wheelchairs

----

Greg, If you still have the items you listed below, you can find some great disability support groups that are non-profit organizations helping those with disbilitities. Please check out our Resources page  <http://www.accessiblechicago.org/disability_resources> I especially like *Joni and Friends and Equip for Equality*. Joni and Friends specializes in donated wheelchairs and sends them around the world to help those who could otherwise not afford them. Thank you again for writing, Catherine Marsden Accessible Chicago

Where Can I Donate Used Wheelchairs?

----

Hello, I have 2 sporty racing style wheelchairs and about 6 spare tires and rims for them. I also have a three-wheeled racing chair. I would like to donate these items and I want to make sure they will be given to someone who could really use these.   Do you know where I might be able to donate these? (I am in Chicago), Greg
