  • Taxi Service: The following was provided by the Mayors Office for People with Disabilities. Call 1-800-281-4466 to order a wheelchair accessible cab. Minivans meet vehicle requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Riding the 'L': Use the trip planner function at the RTA website to help you make your plans to-and-from different locations. Or, give a call to the CTA/RTA transit information line at(312) 836-7000. You can give the operator your starting location and the address where you're going, and they will look it up for you and can advise about accessible "L" stations.

  • Chicago's Mainline Public Bus System: For visitors who need to get around Chicago attractions or use public bus service. All of their 150 bus routes are fully accessible to customers with disabilities. Lifts and ramps on all buses are available for use upon request by anyone who has trouble with steps,even temporarily.
  • Chicago's Para-transit Services If you need help getting to a regular appointment, you may want to consider the Para-transit program below. Mobility Direct is a new voucherless taxi-based service that eliminates the need to schedule each trip in advance. Mobility Direct service is provided by participating City of Chicago taxicab companies, in cooperation with the CTA. You pay only $3.50 per trip, and your companion or Personal Care Attendant (PCA) can ride with you for free.   • Flashcab and Handicab: For a wheelchair accessible cab in Chicago, contact Flashcab.com (773-561-4444)and Handicab (800-281-4466).
  • Continental Airport Express: . The accessible van will pick you up at OHare or Midway airport and bring you door to door to any downtown hotel for $18.00 one way for one traveler. Ypu may also have to share a ride with others so this may take a while. Be sure to call ahead to make arrangements at least 24 hours in advance.   • Lucky Dog Charters: The proprietor of this yacht welcomes wheelchair users on fishing expeditions. Captain Jim Kaske will take a maximum of three wheelchair users and their attendants on a fishing cruise on Lake Michigan. He can be reached at (847) 812-1436
  • Walk Chicago Tours: This guided walking tour company encourages those with physical challenges on their tours.
